They filmed the show live from a cruise ship in Barcelona.

But Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway was far from plane sailing as the live season finale suffered a few sinking moments, most notably when voiceover James Nesbitt disappeared for part of the evening.

During the much-loved TV hosts’ chat with the equally adored Little Ant and Dec, the camera awkwardly cut to the Cold Feet star’s empty mic – and things only got worse.

Once their conversation had finished, the Geordie duo then attempted to speak to The Missing star but he was still missing from his narrator digs.

Left in a fluster, the two then demonstrated their presenting prowess by apologising for the problem and heading to an ad break.

But it looked as though the boys’ blunder had a lucky escape on social media, as the majority of viewers were seemingly preoccupied with Peter Andre’s performance of 1996 hit Mysterious Girl.

Not so suave, after all! Once their conversation had finished, the Geordie duo then attempted to speak to The Missing star but he was still missing from his narrator digs

‘How cheese balls is Peter Andre?? #SaturdayNightTakeaway,’ one viewer wrote, while another chimed: ‘Peter Andre takes mysterious girl way to seriously when singing it on #SaturdayNightTakeaway.’

‘Impressed Peter Andre has dragged out a 20 year career from 1 song,’ tweeted another.

Though the 43-year-old star still clearly has his fans as many praised him on his performance, one of whom leaped to his defence by claiming those who aren’t fans of the singer are ‘completely tone deaf’.

‘People saying peter andre cant sing in tune are probs those bathroom singers who are completely tone deaf and cant realise real talent!’ enthused one Andre’s adorers.

But Peter wasn’t the only performer who faced somewhat of a backlash online as Katherine Jenkins was forced to defend herself on the social network after a viewer accused her of miming her way through her rendition of Barcelona, which kicked off the show.

‘YOU TOTAL FRAUDSTER. MIMING AND NOT EVEN REALISTIC. PEOPLE ACTUALLY PAY TO SEE THAT S***. DISGRACEFUL IN EVERY WAY!!!’ tweeted one angry fan, though Katherine instantly hit back.

‘Thank you for the compliment – my singing was FULLY live,’ she affirmed.

But while the show might have had its setbacks, there were still plenty of fans who commended the Ant and Dec the show, which also saw Little Ant and Dec interview tennis star Andy Murray and the real twosome take part in their own version of The Cube.

‘Ant and Dec are two of my favourite humans ever,’ tweeted one admirer, while another gushed: ‘I love watching Saturday night takeaway! Ant and Dec are brilliant omg’.
