Must-see book trailers: ‘Provoked,’ ‘The Casquette Girls,’ ‘Bohemia Beach’

Friends,

I’ve been burning the midnight oil on new words, but I have been carving out some time to de-stress with a good book. This week I was able to reward myself with Josh Lanyon’s Winter Kill on a drive home, and then I fell into the always amazing narration of the Psycop series by Gomez Pugh. The combination of Mr. Pugh’s pitch-perfect delivery of my book boyfriend, Victor Bayne, and the amazing storytelling of Jordan Castillo Price made Camp Hell pure heaven.

The trailer for Provoked by Riley Murphy is hot! Hot! Hot! A romance with a BDSM theme, the imagery is sultry and provocative and borderline NSFW. The music is sexy and low key and seductive. What I really love about this video is that the narrator from the audiobook handles the voiceover, and it is compelling and unique. Well done!

The video for The Casquette Girls by Alys Arden is everything you would expect for a Southern Gothic romantic novel about coming-of-age in New Orleans. The imagery, the live-action video and the setting all support the creepy, dangerous vibe as murders abound in the storm-ravaged city. The voiceover delivers the story in a riveting and sinister way that puts you on the edge of your seat.

My thoughts are already turning to the beach and great beach reads, so what can be better than a trailer for a book set on the shore? The trailer for Bohemia Beach by Lucy Lakestone is a simple, evocative video piece that combines stock images with video shot by the author. The crashing waves, the couple in silhouette all coalesce into a clip that screams “romance.”
